Richard Sumray Member, Metropolitan Police Authority Richard Sumray is the MPA Lead on criminal justice issues and in his non-executive role he brings to the Board a broad strategic perspective of the criminal justice service (CJS). As MPA Chair of the Planning, Performance and Review Committee he ensures that the strategic direction of its planning matches that of the London CJB. Membership of the London CJB also informs his assessment of the Metropolitan Police Service in its role as part of the CJS. “The London CJB has been invaluable in trying to create a joined up system, which seemed impossible to achieve before its creation. All the agencies are now committed to working much more closely and to resolving problems together. “The aim must be to make it a smoothly operating service and so improve confidence and effectiveness in the criminal justice system. I intend to continue to contribute to its growing success.” Richard chairs Haringey Teaching Primary Care Trust. He worked on the London bid to win the Olympic Games and currently chairs the London 2012 Forum for the London Organising Committee. He is a Chairman in the Inner London Youth and Family Proceeding Courts. |
