Cyber threats demand of governments, agencies and corporates the ability to work at sharply increased pace to offer protection from the explosive increase in the dangers countries face from the exponential increase in the volume and speed of attacks delivered by a highly variegated set of opponents.
Three leading US security officials make key contributions to this forum, the tenth in the annual Cityforum series with NSA; Mr George Barnes, Deputy Director, NSA and Mr Rob Joyce, Senior Adviser for Cybersecurity Strategy, National Security Agency [NSA] are joined by Mr Ciaran Martin, CEO, National Cyber Security Centre [NCSC] and other prominent British officials, industrialists, academics and security experts from the media.
The morning features the traditional opening masterclass on issues chosen by its distinguished contributors. The day continues with an assessment of ‘how to deal with threats to infrastructure that are developing quite alarming implications’. The industry discussants in this session have an important perspective to elaborate. The lunch session is on ‘civil liberties’ and the afternoon is devoted to an appraisal of who will dominate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. A quite outstanding panel including Professor John Savage, An Wang Emeritus Professor of Computer Science, Brown University, Professor Kerry Brown, Director Lau China Institute, KCL and Mr Vikram Sharma Founder & CEO, QuintessenceLabs join Mr Mike Steinmetz, Senior Adviser Homeland Security, State of Rhode Island in an extended round table discussion which will focus on what can be done in circumstances where time is extremely short – a leitmotif for this whole event.
